Everyone who does lawn work frequently knows how superior Husqvarna outdoor power equipment is when compared to the competition. Hopefully, they also know that the proper fuel and oil mixtures are necessary to get the most out of these pieces of equipment. Properly mixing your Husqvarna 2 cycle oil is very important. Taking proper care of your equipment will help it do a better job and last longer. The XP 2-cycle oil by Husqvarna, when mixed properly with unleaded gasoline, makes a big difference in how your equipment runs!
When your equipment calls for a mixture of 2-stroke oil and gasoline, make sure you read the instructions to mix them correctly and safely. Keep some things in mind when mixing:
- Use the specified oil and gasoline. Don’t try to save money by substituting cheaper products or using something you already have on hand. Use the proper unleaded gasoline with an 89 octane rating and the 2-cycle oil called for on that piece of equipment. 2 stroke engines need a specific fuel/oil mix to work properly.
- When you have the proper oil and fuel, mix them in a container using this procedure: Put half the fuel in the container, then all of the oil. Now shake the mixture for 15 seconds. Next, add the rest of the fuel and shake for another 15 seconds. Each machine has its own proportion of mixture, but 2-stroke engines often call for a 50 to 1 mixture.
- When fuel and oil have been properly mixed, add them to the fuel tank up to an 80% capacity. Do not overfill. Clean the machine well to get rid of any spillage.
- When the machine will be stored without being used for a long period of time, empty and clean the fuel tank. When it’s time to use the equipment again, check the fuel tank to make sure it’s clean. Then read the directions for fuel and oil mixing and follow them carefully.
A properly cared for and fueled machine will last for years operating at top capacity and safety. Properly mixing Husqvarna 2 cycle oil is an important part of equipment operation and care. The proper oil can be ordered directly from our website.
